For example, this ramp was installed for an elderly couple from Belmont. This lovely duo had moved into a mobile home at a retirement village in the Lake Macquarie district (..just south of Newcastle) and who wanted to improve their lifestyle by updating the access ramp to their home.

The clients decided to use treated pine for the construction. This would keep the cost down, and save them some extra money for their retirement.

Now it is much easier for them to get in and out of their home safety. Happy retirement!

Veranda Rescue and Deck Renovation at Cessnock Hunter Valley – Now a Cool Merbau Deck

This is a deck renovation we did in Cessnock in the Hunter Valley.

The old veranda had collapsed compressed flooring with tiles, which had become dangerous and ugly. The customer need it gone.

We set to work an replaced the joists with H3 treated pine and repair the bearers were required.

We then installed 90mm Merbau(hardwood) decking with a screwless system called klevaclip, which gives air-flow between underside of decking board and top of joist.

We also need to cut rotten post and install new galvanised stirrups.

It also looks great with minimum screws or nails

Laundry Room Remodel and Full Renovation in Elermore Vale – Newcastle

Some times you need to bit the bullet and improve certain things around the home.

Improving the laundry room will help add value to the home as well as increase efficiency doing the laundry chores.

Our customer needed a better solution to their current laundry situation. A full laundry remodel was overdue.

The internal laundry originally had a free-standing sink on the right, a washing machine in the middle, and a dryer on the left giving no bench area.

The only storage was minimal and only under the sink where the plumbing and s-trap was located.

We installed a cabinetry base unit and broom cupboard next to it on the right and an overhead unit.

Then installed a laminated bench top, small S/S sink, chrome mixer, then tiled with large gloss white tiles.

Now it’s a practical neat and tidy, with a little bench spot and plenty of storage including the mop and broom.

Stairs and decking

This property is on a very sloped block so they knew from the start it would be a bit of a challenge.

The deck was built with multiple levels and incorporated a nice stairs case to utilize the space efficiently.

Then the deck was covered with hardwood (Merbau decking boards) using a screw less and nail less system. (We did use some screws at stairs)

The job was very difficult to execute, but turned out a very satisfying job to see completed at the end.

The customer is now very happy that they have nice easy access to their backyard and gained use-able entertainment space.

Suspended Veranda Renovation Elermore Vale – Newcastle Home Renovation

Home renovation projects can be fun. Other times it is an absolute necessity. That was certainly the case with this project.

We started with rotten suspended joist, under sidelining that was all falling off and compressed sheeting on top was busted. On top of that, the remaining construction was really unsafe as it had no handrails.

We demolished everything and started again.

  • Started with H2 LVL joists
  • New compressed flooring
  • Added treated pine handrail and slats

The results are amazing. It now a large usable veranda complying with Australian codes.
