This house in Maryland that we renovated had a large concrete area off of the side which was perfect for a new pergola.

The idea the client had was for somewhere to entertain with friends and family and a place for their young kids to play. Even if the weather was hot or raining.

To start we covered the area with a 100mm thick Cooldek roof complete with a sky light that would allow light into house.

Cooldek insulated panel provides a roof, insulation and ceiling like ﬁnish all in one product, with superior spanning capabilities and outstanding cooling performance supplied by Stratco.

To complement the area we installed a Bromic electric outdoor heater for the cold winters days and nights. As well as a led strip light plus a LED twin spot light for the night time entertainment.

We also install a suspended bench with sink next to BBQ. This is a great addition when cooking and cleaning. Not to mention it’s also great for kids to clean up the muddy boots before entering house.

The whole thing turned out awesome. The client now has a great big 7m x 6.5m area for kids and entertainment. Time now to sit for a cold beer.

To start, it was a very dated laundry. Wooded trims and vanity, along with cream/brown bath and toilet. Salmon coloured wall tiles and small brown floor tiles. It wasn’t just dated but hideous.

The laundry was re-configured added the wardrobe and relocated the dryer with a wall exhaust next to it. The closet, together with the dryer, makes laundry duty more efficient.

We also painted all the doors and trims gloss white to brighten and modernise the three spaces. The white paint adds emphasis to the entire bath and laundry, giving it a unified look.

Bathroom Renovation Wallsend – Newcastle Bathroom Update

Are you in Wallsend? Are you looking to renovate your Bathroom? We are local Wallsend builders who live and work in the area.

This awesome bathroom renovation we did in Wallsend Newcastle turned out fantastic.

To start with the existing bathroom configuration was a bit disjointed. There was a 3-section bathroom, has a separate toilet, wash area and shower/bath.

It was tidy but had a leak caused by a waterproof issue, and the client was getting older and wanted a walk-in shower (no door).

We strip everything from the bathroom, removed the toilet, and the floor in the 3 areas and opened up the space.

We waterproofed and laid 300 x 300-floor tiles and large gloss white wall tiles, install a new bath and a fixed panel frame less shower screen.

We installed a large overhead shower with a hand-held option, chrome mixers, and accessories.

We re-used the old toilet and vanity (as they were relatively new).

I’ve been back to this project 2years later and it looks as good as the day the renovation work was completed.

Deck Repairs and Restorations at Wallsend Newcastle – Best Deck Renovation Ever!

It didn’t start out that way. As an example, there was originally a very old deck with a non-safety compliant wooden handrail out back where the occupants were reluctant to spent much time.

This is where Rook Building was called upon to help make things right again. They have done many decks before. So they knew exactly what to do.

For starters they striped off the handrail and the decking board. After repairing the joist and making everything safe again, they began the installation of 90mm Merbau. This famous hardwood timber decking is installed with a screw-less system called Klevaclip. This system gives perfect airflow between the underside of the decking board and top of the joist.

Merbau is a naturally durable material and great for construction. For this reason, we went with a 90 x 90mm Merbau post and finished it of smartly with a modern stainless-steel cable for the handrail.

Looks great, and now complies with Australian standards.

The entrance to the deck a brand new Aluminium sliding door was installed with heat reduction glass. Finished off with a Merbau threshold to match the Merbau deck.

The end result, a nice winter deck overlooking the Hunter Valley Mountains.

There was the bathroom, a separate toilet, the entryway from the rear door, and then the laundry. We reconfigured it to be a bathroom incorporating the toilet entryway and laundry. The reconfiguration of the area allows easy access to the three spaces – laundry, shower, and toilet.

In the bathroom, we installed an 11 jet spa bath with shower over, back to wall toilet and wall hung vanity, all new chrome mixers and accessories. The modern perspective of the new appliance gives a whole new look at the entire bath. The luxurious jet spa bath with shower over acts also as a Jacuzzi spa, suitable for ending a hard day’s work.
