For many people ‘life is a deck’. Sitting on the deck with a coldie after a hard days work, makes it all worthwhile.
Ahh.. this is living!
This is how ‘Everyday life’ is now for our latest happy customer.
However, wind back the clock on this job, things where a little bit different.
When we arrived we found an old deck with non-compiling wooden hand rail that was totally unsafe to walk on.
First begins the repairs. We figured we could not salvage much of the old deck, so we striped away everything including the suspended joists.
We installed a new set of H3 LVL suspended Joists to make the deck save again.
Then we installed 90mm merbau(hardwood) decking with a screw-less system called Klevaclip this gives air flow between underside of decking board and top of joist.
With the safety rails we went with 90mm x 90mm Merbau posts and a Merbau top rail. Then added a modern stainless-steel cable for the remaining handrails.
The deck now complies with Australian standards and also looks amazing.
The customer is so happy. Now they have a usable deck on the eastern side of house for that morning coffee in winter or cold beer on a summer’s afternoon.
